SEATTLE - Seattle canceled 1,200 vaccine appointments at Lumen Field on Tuesday, surprising people. Most of the appointments were made towards the end of this week - the first days that eligibility was opened to the general public.
The cancellations came a few hours before each statement and caused frustration and disappointment among a private group of “vaccine hunters” on Facebook.
Several KIRO7 employees were among those with canceled appointments.
“I was definitely excited to finally get it and got kind of slapped in the face - no, you have to wait one more time,” said Eddie Galdamez, who said he got his Pfizer Shot 1 and Shot two weeks ago -2 dates booked. Both appointments have been canceled. The vaccinations given at Lumen Field are Pfizer. As cancellations were the same day, the CDC and FDA recommended stop the Johnson and Johnson vaccine

“I was just assuming that they would be giving all of our first doses to the people designated for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine,” said Alicia Collins, who also works at KIRO7. Collins said she booked her appointment about a week ago.
“It’s two days left and I just didn’t expect it to be canceled,” said Collins.
The city later emailed those whose appointments had been canceled, saying the links that people used to book appointments were for volunteers or other specific groups of people.
A spokesman on the phone said that people private links intended for people disproportionately affected by the virus or people who help with Lumen Field posted on social media and websites such as Reddit. COVIDWa.com Some links were also found by websites like COVIDWa.com that crawl email, and some of the links that are not intended for the public ended up on this website as well. The city said it asked to stop searching email for links. (The state’s official website for finding vaccines is https://vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov/ COVIDWa.com.)
