In addition, more than half a million people - or 29.5% of the population aged 16 and over - are fully vaccinated as of April 12. Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been “paused”, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), while investigations are underway into a rare blood clotting problem related to the vaccine be performed. This follows , a manufacturing defect that had already interrupted the supply of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. However, our regional goal feels more and more tangible as April 15 will be available to vaccinate all Washington residents (ages 16+) and supplies of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are slowly increasing. See for a list of same-day vaccine availability at their locations (they do walk-ins so plan to arrive early and stand in line if you go on April 15 or beyond).Vaccine Locator Getting your first (and second) dose of the COVID vaccine will likely continue to be a difficult process to navigate, partly due to the sheer number of people wanting to schedule appointments and the constant change in what’s on offer and the availability of appointments with vendors, not to mention the many different systems used to connect people to appointments / vaccines (and the big blowback of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccination break). Nonetheless, Jeff Duchin, PHSKC Public Health Officer at their website, warns: “The potential for a sharp increase in cases and hospital stays remains real until more of us are vaccinated … Get vaccinated as soon as possible!”

Seahawks surprise students with savings accounts to learn about financial literacy To get children excited about the importance of saving, two Seattle Seahawks players met with students from Aki Kurose Middle School and Meany on April 8th Middle School in an online call to provide students with a free $ 40 savings account and showcase financial literacy information. KJ Wright and Bobby Wagner visited schools through Zoom,to talk about managing money as part of Financial Literacy Month in collaboration with the black-owned personal finance app.

. From Promoter:

“A study published in 2017 showed that black and Hispanic communities were on track to have zero net worth by 2053 and 2073, respectively. The impact of the pandemic on these communities likely accelerated that schedule. By not educating communities about the importance of financial literacy, we will be on the fast track to squandering those communities' massive purchasing power.

“Children who have savings accounts in their name are 6 times more likely to go to college and 4 times more likely to go to stocks when they are young adults. We have the possibility, prepare our children for a life of financial freedom if we reach them early and teach them in a way they can relate to. Goalsetter.

“The goalkeeper teaches children how to save at an early stage by letting them save for goals that are important to them. And also combines this with a committed financial education. The app contains fun trivia questions based on popular culture. So kids are excited about learning financial literacy in ways they have never seen before. “ UW School of Medicine Seeks Volunteers for Respiratory Studies

Recruiting is currently prioritizing participantswho may have a higher than normal risk of respiratory disease due to frequent exposure to other people through work or other activities, health conditions, or other factors. Individuals interested in participating in the Apple Respiratory Study should visit

www.seattleflu.org/applerespiratorystudy

to learn more about the study and, if interested, complete the screening questionnaire to determine if they are eligible .

How is the privacy of the participants in the study protected? Participant privacy is paramount. This is one of the reasons we chose to work with Apple as we are committed to user privacy.Data is stored in systems with strict security controls to protect the data. Apple does not have access to study data that could directly identify participants. Why should people take part in this study?

This is an opportunity to participate in a historical scientific research project to better understand how cutting-edge technology can help identify potential health risks for respiratory diseases in individuals. The results of these tests could help identify the spread of the germs (viruses and bacteria) in the community, and the data will also help researchers improve understanding of how heart rate, sleep,Relate activity and other data collected in the study to symptoms of infection and possibly help others in the future. There are no costs for the participants.

What will the participant experience be like?

To participate in the study, participants must wear their Apple Watch, complete weekly and monthly surveys in the Apple Research App on disease symptoms and recovery, lifestyle, and provide self-collected nasal swabs to test for germs (viruses and bacteria), including SARS -CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. This study also uses reminders like washing hands on the Apple Watch and examines how behavioral interventions like this can prevent the likelihood of developing viral infections.org / applerespiratorystudy
